Continuing the Journey: Developments and Insights into Astronomy
Oct 17, 2024 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Instructors: Robert Berta and Angelo DiDonato
Their insightful tag-team presentation formula continues with Bob Berta giving a presentation on:- How do we remotely determine the elements in a distant star or planet?
- How are the dimensions and mass of distant celestial objects determined?
- Why is it necessary to answer these questions and other elements of the astrophysical equation?
The presentation by Angelo DiDonato will cover the celestial sphere and how to use the astronomical coordinate system to locate celestial objects and study their motion across the sky. Included will be a summary of the latest astronomical findings within our solar system and planned space missions to the moon, asteroids, and planets.
About the Presenters: Angelo DiDonato is a lifelong amateur astronomer and retired test and development engineer in the defense and automotive industries. His particular interest lies in the origin and evolution of our universe from the Big Bang to the present time and sharing that knowledge with the general public in a classroom setting.
Bob Berta's lifetime focus on astronomy includes public outreach (he is an official NASA representative), viewing and astrophotography. His professional-level astral photographs are spectacular. His background in engineering is a perfect match for his interests and capabilities.
